I’ve done a variety of different things in my professional life over the years but the bulk of my activities have been technical in nature, mostly computers but not exclusively. Technology has been a keen interest my entire life, even when I was quite young. As a teenager in the 70’s I loved music but digital music wasn’t a thing yet so I ran wires from our console stereo to the speaker of a gutted radio in my bedroom so I could listen to LP’s in my bedroom as they played on the turntable in the living room. I’ve been coming up with “outside the box” solutions to technical problems ever since. I routinely devised significant innovations for the software that CBSI produced while working there and continued to creatively solve problems for my clients when I started Personal Care Tech Solutions back in 2002. I love playing with tech toys and helping people cope with new technology. Customer service has always just been my natural response when people are having problems.

While the internet was still in it’s infancy when “high speed” was a 56k dial-up modem, I registered my name as a domain (this website). which was tricky even then for a name as common as Tom Johnson. I had to put a dash between the names but that worked and I’ve had this domain for 25+ years but haven’t done much with it until I started travelling this year.

While I was jumping into the domain ownership arena, I wanted a website/business name that was a single catchy word that was unique for branding purposes. I set out to “invent” a new word for this purpose. I don’t recall what triggered the line of thought but I was thinking about my wife’s interesting childhood. She was adopted as an infant and was raised as an only child. She has a rich imagination and is an excellent writer which began at a very early age. Cindy and her best friend Karen wanted to write mystery novels together. Among other plots they hatched, somewhere along the line they would make up stories about how Cindy came to be adopted and she told me they once concocted a story about her mother being a princess in a far away land who fell in love with a commoner so they eloped and came to America. Her father, the king was very upset and dispatched men to find his daughter and bring her back and to make the “peasant” husband disappear. The young couple had a little princess that they didn’t want to go back to the king so they allowed a wonderful mother and father who were unable to have children of their own to take her and raise her where she would be happy. The fate of her natural parents remains a mystery but the girls were certain it was “tragical”. Cindy had told me this story at one point and since she is a princess in the story it just seemed natural the long version of the name of my princess would be Cinderella. What made the story of Cinderella special was her Glass Shoe so I checked to see if the phonetic version was available so I registered www.glashu.com and and Glashu Enterprises, LLC was born.
